I have absolutely loved the workshops, Emma knew straight away in how i was feeling and understood the issue and problems i was having with; whereas many people failed to understand, such as school, University and many more. There have not been a workshops that really cater effectively to neurodivergent as A2i Team, everyone is just put into a box. Emma was able to understand all of as a individual and frustrations, she made me feel calm and listened to me. Also I the love small group session, it made me feel safe, and think my other group members would also agree. Further more I loved how Emma used bring a guest speaker where they would talk about their journey and experience. It made me fell that I was not alone and can achieve greatness. I am going to miss everyone and the group sessions
The CYFWD for unemployed workshop enhanced my employability skills through this workshop I managed to get a Job. Thank you A2i.
I found the 1-1 coaching sessions facilitated by Emma Allsopp on Create your future with Dyslexia the best. The Tutor was able to help me with my self-development.
Without the Black Thrive Lambeth Dyslexia workshop facilitated by Elizabeth Takyi CEO of A2i Dyslexia. I would have never come out and disclosed my diagnosis of dyslexia”. This is because when I first disclosed to a family member, I have dyslexia they stated I needed prayers, for the dyslexia so I can be healed. After many workshop sessions with Elizabeth, I was able to openly tell my children about my diagnoses with dyslexia. Upon completion of the workshop, I am now ready to run my own business with the support of DWP access to work grant all things can be possible, my future is bright. Thank you, A2i Dyslexia,
Following the All-things Dyslexia live show and seeing other Black people talking about Dyslexia in a positive way and who looks like me, makes me feel I’m not alone and there is hope for the black community.
I used to think dyslexia was a limitation, however now I use Dyslexia to my advantage.
I lacked confidence before, but as a result of Listening to one of A2i Dyslexia podcast I am in a better place with my mental Health and wellbeing, due to having more of an awareness of dyslexia.
I found Create your Future with Dyslexia Lambeth Sessions so rewarding and as a result I also invited my daughter onto the workshop as dyslexia is genetic, I wanted my daughter to benefit too form the Black Thrive Funded workshop. As a result of the 9 weeks sessions at A2i Dyslexia, I am aware of the Dyslexia support I am entitled to at university. I am so happy as I have all the support I needs at university, with all the software’s. Now, I have been diagnosed with dyslexia “I can now put things in place, my friends now understand why I do things differently”. At university I am studying to become a counsellor, upon completion of the course, I will specialise in supporting individuals with dyslexia and learning difficulties such as autism.
I am so inspired by Elizabeth and the entire A2i Dyslexia team they understand me and has taught me so much about dyslexia”. I have multiple several health conditions such as autism and mental health. CYFWD Lambeth has been a space for me to come and share my concerns about my dyslexia and be inspired by Elizabeth CEO of A2i Dyslexia. My parents were not able to identify my dyslexia when I was young, I had to look for support and understand dyslexia for myself. Without A2i Dyslexia “I don’t know what I would have done”. Before coming onto the workshop, I didn’t even know where to go to for support. There are no organisations out there providing what A2i Dyslexia provides.
Support from A2i Dyslexia with one 2one consultation, self-esteem coaching sessions I have gained a part-time employment.
When I started the Black and Dyslexic workshop in 2019, I was embarrassed due to the stigma of the hidden disability dyslexia, Prior to being referred to A2i Dyslexia I thought dyslexia was something to be ashamed of. However, I gained confident over time now I know dyslexia can be my “superpower” and not something to be embarrassed about.
I am so grateful for the session on the personal Development Coaching sessions funded by The London Community Fund, due to my ill-health I had to retire from work, PDC sessions it has empowered me to want to go back to university and study to become a counsellor. The Assisted Technology Training from Myles Pilling- https://www.linkedin.com/in/mylespilling/ has been a life changing experience. The workshop has changed my life. I don’t know where I would be without A2i Dyslexia support.
Thank you so much Elizabeth and A2i Team, The Create your future with Dyslexia Lambeth Project has made a huge impact in my life, I am off to university to study architecture, prior to the workshop I had no idea what career path I wanted. However, through one-to-one sessions on the black thrive workshop, I was able to build my confidence and decided the career path. The free dyslexia assessment worth £420 has opened many doors to a university degree and all the additional support I will be receiving, I can now get 25% extra time in examinations, a laptop and tutor support.
I attended A2i Dyslexia employability skills workshop in 2018, As a result of the project I found full time employment and have been given the necessary reasonable adjustments at work.
The workshop (Create your Future with Dyslexia Lambeth Jan 2021) I joined the program whilst studying at Lambeth college. If I hadn’t been on the workshop “I would have given up on my studies” as a result of a Black Thrive funding for Dyslexia Assessment, I hope to complete my studies and become a qualified electrician.
The dyslexia assessment is so important as it allowed me to get the support I needed in my employment and education.
